I travelled for a week in Sicily. At one point I left my rental car in Milazzo and took a hydrofoil to the volcanic islands points north. As I was getting out of the car, a total stranger approached me and said in perfect English ” Are you going on the hydrofoil?”
“Yes,” I said.
“If you park here your car will be towed away. Park over there.”
I thanked him kindly, parked where he suggested, and everything was okay when I got back several days later.

I experienced several such examples of kindness.

I have fond memories of the one week I spent in Costa Rica more than a decade ago. It is a very beautiful place. I was lucky enough to get along without any Spanish at all. At a coffee shop in a national park on a volcanic mountain I tried to order coffee in (what was supposed to be) Spanish and they requested that I order in English.

Well,
I have some writing friends and well I guess it is a question that just gets asked a lot. Usually my answer is no. Never blogged in my life. I think for people who are writers it holds a different place though. For me I would like have to scan my sketches. Maybe just phone picts of them. Quick and easy. Take care and enjoy the stars. Hi, don’t feel so down! I’m a black child with about a fourth of white in me, but I was raised in a black community by my mother. I’m not destraught anymore, as a matter of fact I’m pretty proud!
See, you shouldn’t be so worried about what you don’t know, but actually appreciate what and who you do. I believe that for every multiracial child, who only knows what his or her surroundings tell the child, that what he or she has is intented and planned by God.
Yes, you may want to still know about your other culture. I suggest you do the web-search thing, ask your mother if she can tell you what part of Afghanistan your father may be from, and find out as much as you can from your search. If that is not enough, read a book or two and if that still does not satisfy your hunger, why not try praying on it.
